One of the most gifted and distinguished artists on the stage today, Mezzo-Soprano Amanda Nisenson is establishing herself as a unique singer in great demand. She has been hailed by critics as "one of the most important and talented singers of our generation" and honored by Opera News Magazine. Operatic training for Ms. Nisenson began at the Juilliard School which then lead to her receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from The Manhattan School of Music in 2002. She then finished up her training at Philadelphia's prestigious operatic training program, Academy of Vocal Arts and the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development program. Ms. Nisenson made her professional operatic debut in 2000 with The opera Theater of St. Louis. This then lead to performances at opera houses such as the Santa Fe Opera, Portland Opera, New York City Opera, Vienna Kammeroper and Connecticut Grand Opera. Carmen, Rigoletto, The Rape of Lucretia, Die Fledermaus and Samson and Dalilah are among a few operas Ms. Nisenson has performed leading roles in over the past decade. She has taken top prizes in The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, The Licia Albanese Puccini Competition, The International Belvedere Competion in Vienna Austria, and the James Parkinson Italian Opera Competition.
Equally at home on both the concert and recital stage, Amanda has sang orchestral concerts and solo recitals all over the US, Europe, and South America. In 2006, she was asked by singing icon Olivia Newton-John to perform at a Healthy Child Healthy World benefit concert in Los Angeles produced by Grammy award winning music producer David Foster. In addition, Amanda lends her voice out to numerous charities and has been a guest speaker and conducted masterclasses at Baltimore School of the Arts, Barnard College and Columbia University. In 2009, Amanda began working on a one woman show called "From Carmen to Cole Porter" where she plays piano and sings a wide variety of pop, classical, jazz and musical theater songs. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys teaching piano, classical voice and also writes articles for LuxEco Living magazine about her artistic journeys.
